Ergonomic Pens for Wrist Pain – Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

ERGO SOF PENAGAIN PENS BLUE

The Pen Again is a low cost ergonomic pen that I tried out at a store this weekend. It feels pretty good in the hand. Wrist Pain – Carpal Tunnel Syndrome makes it hard to write with a regular pen.

The key is to make an ergonomic pen so the grip point is large.  I have taken a regular pen and put some rubber insulation around it to make it much fatter and hence easier to grip and more ergonomic.

Computer Chair Ergonomics

Posted by No Carpal Tunnel Blog, October 16th, 2008

Office Ergo has some tips for selecting computer seating. Key elements to look for in a new chair:

1) Adjustable Seat Height

2) Seat depth Adjustability

3) Backrest height and angle Adjustability

4) Chair Recline

5) Seat pan angle Adjustability

6) Lumbar support and Adjustability

I have had problems with arm rests in the past.  Typing with arms on an arm rest lead to problems.  I ditched my arms.

You may need to goto a computer chair or ergonomics speciality store and not an office product super store to find your optimal chair.  Try a chair before you buy.

Dragon Naturally Speaking Voice Recognition Software

Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 Preferred software

The Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 Preferred is a low cost voice recognition software that I use. I started using it at version 6 and have found that it has improved substantially. It includes a good quality headset.

The speed and accuracy is pretty good and I like the voice web navigation it offers. Dragon does require some training time but the results speak for themselves. It is not perfect but less typing = more healing. It is hard to use in an open office environment though.
